When most people think of astronomy as viewing the heavens through a telescope using our eyes. In reality, most professional astronomers do not use their eyes and a telescope. Radiation comes to us from outer space in many different wavelengths. Visual light is just one form of radiation. In fact visual light is only one millionth of one percent of the electromagnetic spectrum. Limiting your view of the universe to just visual light limits your understanding of the universe. Let look at some of the different forms of electromagnetic radiation and what astronomers learn my studying the universe with these different forms of radiation.
